My Journey From Skeptic to Believer

If someone had told me ten years ago that I'd be writing a blog about holistic living, I would have laughed in their face. I was the opposite of a "natural living" person. I scoffed at the idea. I rolled my eyes at essential oils. I thought it was all voo-doo junk.

But life has a funny way of teaching us what we need to learn.

Severe vertigo changed everything for me. When you can't drive, can't care for your four children, and can't get out of bed without the room spinning violently around you—you become desperate. I tried every medication, every therapy Western medicine had to offer. Brain scans, rigorous testing, the whole nine yards. They never figured it out, so I learned to live my life in a "spin."

Until one day, a brave woman came to my home to show me essential oils. I was rude. I was skeptical. I told her if she could give me an oil that would lessen or eradicate my vertigo, I'd be all in—otherwise, it was just voo-doo junk.

The next morning, after applying five oils behind my ears down to my jawline, I woke up in what felt like a dream. The room wasn't spinning. I could get out of bed with energy, not moving like an old woman afraid of triggering sudden dizziness. I ran into the other room screaming to my husband, "Those stupid little oils work!"

That moment changed the trajectory of my life.

What This Blog Is About

This space is for you—whether you're a skeptic like I was, someone already on a holistic journey, or anywhere in between. I'm here to share what I've learned through my own experiences: recipes, DIY products you can make at home with clean ingredients, and practical tips for taking baby steps toward tossing out the unhealthy stuff in your life.

We'll explore topics like:

  • Natural solutions for children's health (one of my grandchildren has severe eczema, and I'm working on products to help)

  • DIY laundry and cleaning agents

  • Handmade soaps and healthy candles

  • Essential oils and how to use them effectively

  • Real talk about transitioning to holistic wellness

An Important Disclaimer

I'm not a doctor. I'm a Gigi to six wonderful grandkids, a mom of four (including one son with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis), and a caregiver to my handicapped sister, my diabetic mother, and my in-laws. I'm simply telling the story of my own life experiences and what has worked for myself and my family members.

This Is a Journey We'll Take Together

I want to hear from you. What struggles are you facing? What health challenges are keeping you up at night? What have you tried that worked—or didn't work? This blog isn't just me talking at you; it's a community where we can learn from each other.

I'll be posting often, and my hope is that something I share will inspire you to finally take that huge plunge into the healthy realm of holistic wellness. Or maybe just one tiny baby step. Because that's where it all begins—with one step, one oil, one morning when you wake up and the room isn't spinning anymore.

Welcome to Where Wellness Meets Wholeness. I'm so glad you're here.

With love and hope,
Donna
